Welcome to 3rd Special Education at Field-Stevenson School!

I am so excited to work with your student this year. This year is my 11th school year teaching and my 4th school year teaching Special Education at Field-Stevenson. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Western Governors University. Prior to working at Field-Stevenson I worked at City Elementary, a theraputic school in Hyde Park that focused on using Floor Time therapy in a classroom setting. I started teaching Special Education at Giant Steps Theraputic School, a theraputic school in Lisle, IL that focused on incorporationg many different therapies in each student's schedule as well as individualized instruction and education plans.

This school your child will have so much fun working hard to increase his independent skills using our file folder, fine motor and independent task box stations. We will learn new academic skills through various small group and 1:1 sessions and we will improve social skills through "Peertime" groups throughout the week. My class will also take a weekly walking trip across the street to Ed's Way as part of a Science/Cooking group to work on following directions, finding materials at a grocery store and paying for items with the correct amount of money.

Looking forward to a GREAT year!
