District 91 Summer School
The District 91 summer school program is held each summer for students who have an extended school year plan in their IEP (Individualized Education Plan).
Power Scholars Academy
This year, Forest Park School District 91 will be hosting the Power Scholars Academy (PSA), a collaborative initiative with River Forest School District 90 and the West Cook YMCA. The announcement was made at the Board of Education’s meeting in October. The PSA is an immersive summer learning program that is designed to improve students’ academic success and increase their self-confidence.
Scheduled to run June 18 through July 20, the program will be held from Monday through Friday for five weeks for up to 120 students who will be in 1st - 5th grade for the 2018-2019 school year (currently in kindergarten - 4th grade). Invited students will come from District 90 and Forest Park School District 91, and will be selected on the basis of the degree to which they would benefit from a summer “catch up” program. Classes will be taught by certified and licensed teachers who will use the Building Educated Leaders for Life (BELL) curriculum that includes math and literacy instruction, community building, recreation, and enrichment activities. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation will also be provided. PSA sessions will be held at the Field-Stevenson Elementary School in Forest Park.
