On Friday, November 30, the Forest Park School District 91 and the Board of Education hosted the first-ever Chilly Chili Nite as part of Forest Park's traditional Holiday Walk and Festival of Lights. The District also sponsored the horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Parents, children, and residents of all ages brought their appetites and lined up for Starship chili, which was served by members of the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Louis Cavallo in the District Office parking lot from 4:30-6:30 pm.
"We had a great turnout for our first year," remarked Assistant Superintendent Ed Brophy. "The weather really worked in our favor."
Many of the children who attended Chilly Chili Nite with their families got an unexpected surprise as a Forest Park fire engine, lights flashing and sirens blasting, drove past the District Office delivering the evening's special guest, Santa Claus, to Constitution Court on Madison Street.
"This was a wonderful way to express our appreciation to the Forest Park community for their support," explained school board member Kyra Tyler. "I think everyone enjoyed it!"
