Technology
District 91 students learn in a 1:1 environment, which means every student has dedicated access to a device at all times. Our youngest learners (Pre-K and Kindergarten) utilize iPads in the classroom, with access to a Chromebook, if the need to connect to the classroom remotely (via Zoom, Google Meet) should be necessary. Students in grades 1-8 are provided Chromebooks, with those in grades 3-8 taking their Chromebooks home at dismissal.
Below are important documents pertaining to students taking devices home.

Difference Between Innovative Instruction & Technology
Many people may find the terms Innovation and Technology synonymous with each other, but there is a critical difference that is important to understanding our school districtโs vision for learning.
In District 91, we classify Technology as a tool. Tools in a classroom environment can vary greatly: pencils, protractors, Chromebooks, etc. are all considered classroom tools. Technology allows users to complete tasks faster, with increased accuracy, and is considered fundamental for accelerating learning.
In District 91, we see Innovation as being the process of creating something new and valuable. Innovation as a process can be creatively approaching a problem, accessing information locally and globally, collaborating with teammates and critically thinking toward a solution to present to others for feedback. Innovation is vital for encouraging creativity and amplifying the learning environment.
Together, both technology and innovative learning experiences are needed to prepare our students to become global citizens in an ever changing world.
