Ms. Javier's 4th Grade Class

February 12, 2024, Field-Stevenson Elementary School – Mrs. Javier's fourth-grade class, is caught being kind, they embarked on a heartwarming mission to kick off Kindness Week 2024.

In a beautiful display of compassion and community spirit, these young Sharks crafted thoughtful, handmade cards last Friday to express their gratitude to the dedicated nurses at Almost Home Kids. Their touching messages also aimed to uplift the spirits of the families navigating challenging times at the facility.

But the kindness didn’t stop at card-making. Over the weekend, Mrs. Javier personally delivered these bundles of joy, along with a catered lunch from Jimmy John’s, to the hardworking staff and resilient families at Almost Home Kids. This gesture not only brightened the day of its recipients but also served as a powerful example to her students.

Mrs. Javier has been doing service work with Almost Home Kids and regularly contributes her time and effort in various meaningful ways. From reading books and playing games with the children to assisting nurses, organizing toys and books, and even creating sensory activities, she embodies the spirit of kindness. Her dedication extends to comforting walks with patients and providing security and comfort to infants in need.

Almost Home Kids, a critical bridge from hospital to home, offers specialized medical care for children with complex medical needs and serves as a haven for respite care. Through Mrs. Javier's involvement, the Sharks learned about the impact of kindness in action and the importance of supporting those in our community.

As we kick off Kindness Week, the enthusiasm and creativity shown by the Sharks in making their beautiful cards are commendable. Their efforts were met with immense appreciation by the nurses, staff, and families at Almost Home Kids.

D91 extends special recognition to Mrs. Javier and her Sharks for this beautiful act of kindness. Their story is a shining example of how small gestures can make a significant impact.

We encourage everyone in our district to take inspiration from the 4th-grade Sharks and find their own ways to spread kindness, not just during this special week, but every day. Whether it’s a kind word, a helpful hand, or a creative project like the Sharks', every act of kindness contributes to a warmer, more compassionate community.

Let's ride the wave of kindness together, making our schools and the greater community a better place for all.
